      DC6

The Douglas DC-6 was a four-engine, long-range piston airliner and transport aircraft developed in the late 1940s as an improvement over the DC-4. Powered by four Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engines, each producing 2,500 hp, it offered higher speed, greater range, and pressurized comfort. The DC-6 could carry up to 102 passengers or 12,700 kg (28,000 lbs) of cargo, with a maximum takeoff weight of 49,900 kg (110,000 lbs). It cruised at 507 km/h (274 knots) and had a range of up to 7,700 km (4,160 nautical miles). Used by airlines and militaries worldwide-including as the C-118 Liftmaster-the DC-6 became renowned for its reliability, versatility, and enduring service in passenger, cargo, and humanitarian roles.
