T154
The Tupolev Tu-154 is a three-engine medium-range narrow-body commercial jetliner developed by the Soviet Union's Tupolev design bureau. First introduced in 1972, the Tu-154 was the primary medium-haul workhorse of Soviet and Russian civil aviation for several decades. Powered by three Kuznetsov NK-8-2U turbofan engines mounted at the rear of the fuselage, the aircraft has a seating capacity of up to 180 passengers and a range of approximately 2,650 nautical miles. The Tu-154's triple rear-engine configuration and T-tail design gave it a distinctive appearance that became synonymous with Soviet air travel. The aircraft was exported to numerous airlines in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, and served as the backbone of Aeroflot's domestic and regional network. Various upgraded variants were developed over the years, including the Tu-154M with more efficient Soloviev D-30KU-154 engines. While most Western airlines retired comparable equipment long ago, the Tu-154 continued to serve with a small number of operators and military users, a testament to its longevity and adaptability.
