      DC-9-30

The McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30 was a stretched and more capable version of the DC-9 series, introduced in 1967 to meet growing demand for higher-capacity short- to medium-haul jets. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney JT8D-9 or JT8D-11 turbofan engines, each producing 14,500 lbf (64 kN) of thrust, it offered improved range and payload performance. The DC-9-30 featured a fuselage stretch of 4.6 meters (15 feet 1 inch) over earlier models and typically seated 115 passengers in a two-class configuration. With a maximum takeoff weight of 49,900 kg (110,000 lbs), a cruising speed of 880 km/h (475 knots), and a range of 2,800 km (1,500 nautical miles), it became the most popular DC-9 variant, serving airlines worldwide with exceptional reliability.
