      After the collapse of South Vietnam many VPAF (Vietnam People�s Air Force) Regiments were formed in the north. On May 21, 1975 the 935th Fighter Regiment was established at Bien Hao Air Base equipped with former VNAF F-5 aircraft. On May 27, 1975 the unit flew its first Northrop aircraft mission against any remaining opposition. On February 22nd, 1979 ten F-5s of 935th FR moved to Noi Bai AB only to be returned in April 1980. In May 1982 all F-5s were removed from service when the 935th FR received MiG-21s.
