Since his aircraft at the time was White 13 he considered 13 to be his lucky number and all his regular future aircraft wore 13. During WWII Bar flew over 1,000 missions and accumulated 220 confirmed victories with 16 of these while flying an Me-262 jet. On April 24, 1944 Bar scored his 200th victory when he shot down a B-24 while flying his reserve Fw-190A Red 23. Bar survived being shot down 18 times.
