The Lockheed C-17 Globemaster III is a versatile, long-range military transport aircraft developed for the U.S. Air Force and introduced in the 1990s. Designed for strategic and tactical airlift, it can transport troops, vehicles, and heavy equipment directly to forward bases with short, unpaved runways. Powered by four Pratt & Whitney F117-PW-100 turbofan engines, the C-17 has a maximum takeoff weight of 265,350 kg (585,000 lbs) and can carry up to 77,500 kg (170,900 lbs) of cargo. It cruises at 830 km/h (450 knots) with a range of 4,500 km (2,400 nautical miles) at full payload.
