      HS748

The Hawker Siddeley HS.748 is a twin-engine turboprop medium-range transport aircraft developed by the British manufacturer Avro, later part of Hawker Siddeley. First introduced in 1962, the HS.748 was designed for short- to medium-haul regional operations and could accommodate up to 58 passengers. It is powered by two Rolls-Royce Dart turboprop engines, which provide reliable performance and the ability to operate from short, unprepared airstrips. The aircraft features a low-wing design, robust undercarriage, and rear loading capability in some variants, making it well-suited for operations in remote or challenging environments. The HS.748 was widely exported and used by airlines, military operators, and government agencies across the world, including in South America, Africa, Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. India's national airline and military operated a locally license-built version produced by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The HS.748 earned a strong reputation for durability, versatility, and cost-effectiveness in regional aviation.
