L1011-500
The Lockheed L-1011-500 TriStar was the ultimate long-range version of the L-1011 series, introduced in 1978 with advanced aerodynamics and upgraded engines. It was powered by three Rolls-Royce RB211-524B turbofan engines, each producing 53,000 lbf (236 kN) of thrust, providing greater efficiency and range. The L-1011-500 featured a shortened fuselage and increased fuel capacity, enabling a range of 9,400 km (5,100 nautical miles). With a maximum takeoff weight of 231,300 kg (510,000 lbs), it typically carried 246 passengers in a two-class configuration. Cruising at 885 km/h (478 knots), it offered exceptional comfort and reliability on long-haul routes. Airlines such as British Airways, Delta, and TWA valued the L-1011-500 for its quiet operation and advanced flight systems.
