      IL62

The Ilyushin Il-62 is a long-range, four-engine Soviet jetliner that was first introduced in 1967. It was the Soviet Union's first long-range jet airliner and served as the primary intercontinental aircraft of the Soviet carrier Aeroflot for many years. The Il-62 features four rear-mounted turbofan engines, a T-tail configuration, and a swept wing design. With a seating capacity of up to 186 passengers in a typical configuration and a range of approximately 6,700 km, the Il-62 was used on long-haul routes connecting Moscow with destinations in Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Western Europe. The Il-62M, an improved variant, offered better fuel efficiency and extended range. While the Il-62 had limited export success outside the Eastern Bloc, it served with numerous socialist-aligned airlines. Though largely retired by major operators, a small number of Il-62s continue to operate in niche roles, and the type remains an iconic symbol of Soviet aviation.
