T154M
The Tupolev Tu-154M is the most advanced and widely produced variant of the Tu-154 medium-range commercial jetliner family. Introduced in 1984, the Tu-154M features re-engined Soloviev D-30KU-154 turbofan engines in place of the older Kuznetsov engines used on earlier Tu-154 variants, resulting in significant improvements in fuel efficiency, range, and noise levels. With a seating capacity of up to 180 passengers and a range of approximately 3,900 nautical miles, the Tu-154M is better suited for longer domestic and regional international routes than earlier models. The aircraft also incorporates improved avionics, updated systems, and a redesigned interior for improved passenger comfort. The Tu-154M became the standard version for Aeroflot and numerous other airlines in the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc nations, as well as export customers in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. While many Tu-154Ms have been retired in favour of Western jets, a number continue to serve with operators and government agencies in Russia and Central Asia. The Tu-154M remains an iconic symbol of Soviet and post-Soviet commercial aviation.
