DC-9-15
The McDonnell Douglas DC-9-15 was an upgraded version of the original DC-9-10, introduced in 1966 with improved engines and greater performance. It was powered by two Pratt & Whitney JT8D-7 turbofan engines, each producing 14,000 lbf (62 kN) of thrust, providing better takeoff capability, especially in hot-and-high conditions. The DC-9-15 retained the same short fuselage and typically seated 90 passengers in a single-class configuration. It had a maximum takeoff weight of 43,100 kg (95,000 lbs), a cruising speed of 880 km/h (475 knots), and a range of approximately 2,400 km (1,300 nautical miles). Designed for short-haul routes, the DC-9-15 offered reliability, efficiency, and performance improvements, making it a popular choice among airlines such as Delta, TWA, and Eastern Air Lines.
