The Saab 340 (SF340) is a twin-engine turboprop regional airliner developed jointly by Saab of Sweden and Fairchild of the United States. First introduced in 1984, the Saab 340 has a seating capacity of up to 37 passengers and is powered by two General Electric CT7-9B turboprop engines. With a range of approximately 900 nautical miles, the aircraft is optimized for short-haul regional routes connecting smaller communities to major hub airports. The Saab 340 features a pressurized cabin, advanced avionics, and a reliable airframe that has earned a strong reputation for dependability in demanding regional operations. The aircraft has been operated by hundreds of airlines and regional carriers across the world, including in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa. Several military and special mission variants have also been developed, including the Saab 340 AEW for airborne early warning.
