Y7J
The Xian Y-7 is a Chinese turboprop regional airliner developed by Xian Aircraft Industry Corporation as a license-built derivative of the Soviet Antonov An-24. The Y-7 entered service with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) in 1984 and was designed to meet the demand for reliable short-haul transport in China's rapidly expanding domestic aviation market. Powered by two Dongan WJ5A-1 turboprop engines based on the Ivchenko AI-24 powerplant, the Y-7 can carry up to 52 passengers over a range of approximately 1,000 km. The aircraft is capable of operating from short and semi-prepared runways, making it well-suited for service to smaller regional airports across China's interior provinces. Several variants were developed over the years, including the Y-7-100 and Y-7-200 series, which incorporated Western avionics, improved cabin furnishings, and enhanced performance. The Y-7 was instrumental in opening up domestic air service to smaller Chinese cities and played a key role in the early development of China's civil aviation network.
