Canadian Pacific Registration CF-CPY
CF-CPY was manufactured by Douglas as a C-47 BuNo. 41-18540 and delivered to the USAAF on August 28 1942, loaned to the Soviet Air Force for a few months. It arrived with the 10th AF in India in April 1943 and in June 1943 was involved in a mid-air accident causing severe damage writing it off. The aircraft was bought and repaired and on December 11, 1945 was registered as CF-CPY with Canadian Pacific Airlines as # 175. The aircraft now sits on a pedestal in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada as the "World’s Largest Wind Vane".
