CV580
The Convair CV-580 was a turboprop conversion of the earlier CV-340 and CV-440 airliners, developed in the 1960s to improve performance and efficiency. Modified by Convair and Allison, the aircraft replaced its piston engines with two Allison 501-D13D turboprops, each producing 3,750 shp, providing greater power and reliability. The CV-580 could carry 48 to 50 passengers and had a maximum takeoff weight of 25,400 kg (56,000 lbs). With a cruising speed of 520 km/h (280 knots) and a range of approximately 2,400 km (1,300 nautical miles), it became a popular regional airliner and freighter. Known for its ruggedness and short-field capability, the CV-580 served airlines and cargo operators worldwide for decades.
