The Bombardier CRJ550 is a premium regional jet derived from the CRJ700 platform, designed to offer enhanced comfort and flexibility for short- to medium-haul routes. Introduced in 2019, it is powered by two General Electric CF34-8C5B1 turbofan engines, each producing 13,790 lbf (61.3 kN) of thrust. Configured for 50 passengers, the CRJ550 features three service classes-first, premium economy, and economy-making it the first 50-seat aircraft to offer such amenities. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 33,340 kg (73,500 lbs) and a range of up to 2,000 km (1,080 nautical miles). With expanded baggage capacity and onboard refreshment and workspace areas, the CRJ550 redefined regional jet service standards for airlines like United Express.
