      DC-8-60

The Douglas DC-8-60 series, introduced in 1966, marked a major evolution of the DC-8 family with stretched fuselages and greater passenger capacity. Powered by four Pratt & Whitney JT3D turbofan engines, each producing 18,000 lbf (80 kN) of thrust, the DC-8-60 maintained strong performance despite its larger size. The series included the DC-8-61, -62, and -63 variants, all designed for different range and payload needs. With a maximum takeoff weight of up to 158,760 kg (350,000 lbs), it could carry up to 259 passengers in a two-class configuration. Cruising at 876 km/h (473 knots) with ranges between 7,400 and 10,200 km (4,000-5,500 nautical miles), the DC-8-60 series combined capacity, comfort, and versatility for global airline operations.
