MD11F
The McDonnell Douglas MD-11F is a dedicated freighter variant of the MD-11 wide-body trijet aircraft. Based on the same airframe as the passenger MD-11, the MD-11F features a large main-deck cargo door, a reinforced cargo floor, and a comprehensive freight handling system capable of accommodating standard airline pallets and containers. The aircraft is powered by three General Electric CF6-80C2 or Pratt & Whitney PW4460 turbofan engines, providing a range of approximately 4,000 nautical miles with a full freight payload of around 200,000 lbs. The MD-11F's combination of long range, large payload capacity, and three-engine configuration has made it a highly effective intercontinental freighter. Major operators include FedEx Express, Lufthansa Cargo, and UPS Airlines, which have used the aircraft extensively on high-volume transoceanic freight routes. The MD-11F has proven to be one of the most successful and enduring wide-body freighters in the cargo aviation industry, valued for its capacity, reliability, and long-range performance.
