The Aero Spacelines 377GTS "Super Guppy" was a highly unusual and oversized transport aircraft developed from the earlier 377 Stratocruiser/C-97 family. It featured a dramatically ballooned fuselage to accommodate large but lightweight cargo-such as rocket stages-while retaining its Pratt & Whitney piston-turboprop engines and conventional wing and tail. The aircraft could carry loads up to around 41,000 lb (18,600 kg) in a cargo bay approximately 108 ft 10 in long by 25 ft wide and 25 ft 6 in high. With a wingspan of 156 ft 3 in and length of 143 ft 10 in, it cruised around 300 mph and had a range of about 505 miles heavy.
