      B737-200

The Boeing 737-200 is a stretched variant of the original Boeing 737-100 and the first commercially successful member of the 737 family. Introduced in 1968, the 737-200 features a fuselage lengthened by six feet compared to the -100, increasing seating capacity to up to 130 passengers while retaining the same Pratt & Whitney JT8D powerplant. With a range of approximately 1,900 nautical miles, the 737-200 proved well-suited to short- and medium-haul domestic and regional routes. It was widely adopted by airlines around the world and remained in production until 1988, with nearly 1,145 aircraft delivered. The 737-200 was particularly popular with operators in developing markets and in challenging terrain, owing to its robust construction, gravel kit availability for unpaved runway operations, and straightforward maintenance requirements. A dedicated Advanced variant offered improved takeoff performance and fuel efficiency. Dozens of 737-200s continue to serve with cargo and regional operators worldwide, a testament to the durability and adaptability of the original 737 design.
