      B737-600

The Boeing 737-600 is the smallest variant of the Boeing 737 Next Generation (NG) family, introduced in 1998 as a direct replacement for the 737-500. Designed for thin routes and regional operations requiring jet performance, the 737-600 can accommodate up to 130 passengers and is powered by two CFM International CFM56-7B turbofan engines. It incorporates all the advances of the 737 NG series, including a redesigned wing with greater span and fuel capacity, an advanced glass cockpit with LCD displays, and enhanced cabin features. With a range of approximately 3,050 nautical miles, the 737-600 offers considerably greater reach than the 737-500 it replaced, enabling regional carriers to extend their networks into thinner international markets. SAS Scandinavian Airlines was the launch customer and largest operator, using the type extensively on routes across Europe and Scandinavia. Despite its technical merits, the 737-600 achieved modest commercial success with only 69 aircraft delivered, as most customers preferred the higher-capacity 737-700 and -800 variants within the NG family.
