B767-300ER(BDSF)
The Boeing 767-300ER BDSF (Bedek Special Freighter) is a passenger-to-freighter conversion of the Boeing 767-300ER wide-body airliner, carried out by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) Bedek Aviation Group as an alternative to Boeing's own BCF program. The BDSF conversion is broadly similar in scope to the BCF, involving the installation of a large main-deck cargo door, a reinforced cargo floor, a freight loading system, and the removal of passenger cabin furnishings. The resulting freighter is capable of carrying up to approximately 58 tons of cargo over intercontinental ranges similar to the donor 767-300ER. The BDSF conversion is approved under a Supplemental Type Certificate and has been adopted by several cargo airlines and leasing companies seeking a competitively priced alternative conversion. Key distinctions from the Boeing BCF program include differences in the door design, conversion process, and certification basis managed by IAI rather than Boeing. The 767-300ER BDSF has helped extend the service lives of retired passenger aircraft by providing a commercially attractive second role in the cargo market.
