After 56 years of service the Royal Air Force will retire the Lockheed C-130 from service. To commemorate this, they have had ZH870 painted in special 56-year anniversary scheme.

The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft renowned for its versatility, durability, and global service record. Introduced in the 1950s, it was designed for tactical airlift missions, capable of operating from short, unpaved runways. Powered by four Allison T56-A turboprop engines, the C-130 has a maximum takeoff weight of 70,300 kg (155,000 lbs) and can carry up to 19,000 kg (42,000 lbs) of cargo or 92 troops. With a cruising speed of 540 km/h (290 knots) and a range of 3,800 km (2,050 nautical miles), it supports missions including cargo transport, humanitarian relief, medical evacuation, and aerial firefighting. Constantly upgraded, the C-130 remains one of the most successful and enduring military aircraft in history.
