The Northrop Grumman E-8C Joint STARS (Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System) is a specialized airborne command, control, intelligence, and reconnaissance aircraft operated by the U.S. Air Force. Based on the Boeing 707-300 airframe, it is equipped with a powerful side-looking AN/APY-7 radar capable of tracking ground vehicles and coordinating battlefield operations in real time. Powered by four Pratt & Whitney JT3D turbofan engines, the E-8C has a maximum takeoff weight of 152,400 kg (335,000 lbs) and a range of 9,250 km (5,000 nautical miles). With a crew of up to 21, it provides long-endurance surveillance, target detection, and battle management capabilities.
