      VC25A

The Boeing VC-25A is the official U.S. Air Force designation for the two specially modified Boeing 747-200B aircraft that serve as Air Force One, the primary air transport for the President of the United States. Delivered to the Air Force in 1990, the VC-25A features an extensively customized interior with 4,000 square feet of floor space spread across three levels, including an executive suite, conference room, offices, and seating for up to 70 passengers. The aircraft is equipped with advanced secure communications systems, electronic countermeasures, and an inflight refueling capability for unlimited range. Powered by four General Electric CF6-80C2B1 turbofan engines, the VC-25A can cruise at 45,000 feet at a speed of approximately 630 mph. Any Air Force aircraft carrying the U.S. President uses the call sign Air Force One, but the VC-25A is the aircraft most associated with this role. The two VC-25A aircraft are maintained and operated by the 89th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, and represent one of the most iconic and recognizable aircraft in the world.
