AN24
The Antonov An-24 is a Soviet-era twin-engine turboprop regional airliner that was first introduced in 1959. With a maximum seating capacity of 44-52 passengers, the An-24 was designed for short-haul routes and operated extensively by Soviet and later Russian airlines. The aircraft was known for its ruggedness and ability to operate in extreme conditions, making it a popular choice for remote or unpaved runway operations. The An-24 also saw service as a military transport and utility aircraft. Over 1,100 An-24s were built and many are still in use today, mainly in Russia and former Soviet states, although some are also operated in Africa, Asia, and South America. The An-24 has been succeeded by more modern regional airliners, but it remains an important part of aviation history.
