KC10A
The McDonnell Douglas KC-10A Extender is a military aerial refueling and cargo transport aircraft operated by the United States Air Force. Based on the commercial DC-10-30CF wide-body trijet, the KC-10A entered service in 1981 as a complement to the existing KC-135 fleet. The aircraft is capable of transferring up to 356,000 lbs of fuel using both a flying boom and hose-and-drogue refueling systems, allowing it to simultaneously refuel aircraft from multiple nations and services. In addition to its tanker role, the KC-10A can carry up to 75 personnel and 170,000 lbs of cargo, making it a highly versatile strategic airlift asset. The KC-10A is powered by three General Electric CF6-50C2 turbofan engines and has a maximum takeoff weight exceeding 590,000 lbs. With a range of over 4,400 miles unrefueled, it can deploy rapidly anywhere in the world. The KC-10A has been a critical asset in numerous U.S. military operations and continues to serve as a key component of the Air Force's aerial refueling fleet.
